Social Responsibility and Sustainability

Graymont is future focused and we value the sustainable protection of the people and environment in which we operate.

CommunityAs a corporate entity we have the responsibility to ensure the long term well-being of all those located within our area of operation. We strive to be a good neighbour by regularly consulting with iwi, community groups and getting actively involved with community events and projects. Open Days

We regularly hold open days to show the public first hand how we operate and educate them on the many facts of lime.
Westpac Trust Waikato Air Ambulance

We are proud to sponsor and support the Trust Waikato Air Ambulance, who provide a fast, effective and vital service to the Waikato region.

Iwi Open Days

Te Kuiti Walkway

The Te Kuiti walkway traverses a classic limestone landscape. The walkway meanders beside the Mangaokewa Stream through a mixture of shady forest and open farmland. We continue to support the maintenance of this naturally scenic walkway to ensure it’s enjoyment long into the future.

Staff Volunteer Day’s

Our dedicated staff regularly volunteers their time to supporting the community and protecting the environment, furthering our commitment to social responsibility and sustainability.

Protecting the Environment/ Bio Diversity

We are passionate about protecting the environment. Our lime kilns and quarries are closely monitored to minimise the impact on the surrounding environment. Wherever possible we encourage the bio-diversity of wildlife in and around our landholdings – with specific focus on restoring kiwi habitats.

Ruakuri Bush Reserve Pest Control

Our staff volunteered to assist the Ruakuri Bush Reserve in their efforts to maintain and control rat and possum populations. Ruakuri Bush Reserve is a real highlight of the Waitomo area, encompassing over 114ha of native bush and limestone formations which is located only 2km from the world famous glow-worm caves.

Caving

We also help share the natural wonder of the Waitomo glow-worm caves with the public, by leasing one of the caves in our ownership to a local tourism venture.

Maungatautari Kiwi Reserve

Here at Graymont we take great pride in our national bird, we therefore contribute to the protection and maintenance of the kiwi bird by sponsoring radio tag and tracking equipment to the Maungatautari Kiwi Breeding Reserve.

Our dedication to the protection of the environment and those who live in it doesn’t end there. We have a vast amount of future projects within our scope. Watch this space…
