Can I mix CALCIMATE™ in with my silage while rolling the stack and before I cover it?

No, we don't suggest that you mix CALCIMATE™ with silage before the ensiling process has started. CALCIMATE™ like any source of calcium carbonate acts as a buffer, slowing the initial ensiling process. A slower ensiling process means greater loss of energy as heat, more conversion of protein into non-protein nitrogen (NPN) and possibly a higher terminal pH at the end of the ensiling process.
Add CALCIMATE™ at the point of silage feed-out for best results.
