Lime Innovation

Lime is one of the oldest materials known to man, and was even used in the building of the Egyptian pyramids.

Innovation has played a central role within our organisation since the beginning, one of the original lime kilns built by James McDonald in the 19th century still stands at Sandy mount on the Otago Peninsula.

Although lime has been around for ages it doesn’t stop us from constantly seeking to extend its uses and capabilities.

Lime Live-Putting lime to the test

To see the real results of regular liming, we have set up a network of demonstration sites across the country to monitor the performance of the sites across a broad range of parameters. Our lime live programmes have been operating since 2005 and we have built up valuable information and developed insights to assist farmers to improve productivity and get better results.
